GIS tools currently play a key role in the analysis of spatial disparities in the human society. Numerous studies suggest that GIS can significantly improve the efficiency and effectiveness of any mode of transport and upgrade the transport sector in general. GIS softwares have specific tools and techniques that can be applied to the public transport systems and results can be analysed or visualized in several different ways. However, data useability limitations in Slovakia‘s public transport sector datasets have occurred. Our effort is to demonstrate an effective approach to processing of public transport data covering the territory of Slovakia. A combination of public transport data, socio-economic data and GIS data will be used to reveal spatial differentation as well as accessibility of public transport at the level of the municipalities in Slovakia. Our goal is to identify areas in Slovakia with poor public transport accessibility which may lead to transport disadvantages of communities living in such areas.
