This paper comes from the outcomes of COST Action CA18137, European Middle-Class Mass Housing (MCMH-EU), which deals with the role and performance of MCMH in current European cities. Throughout the Action beginning in April 2019, we developed a methodology for documenting MCMH case studies of the partner countries involved in the research, based on a well-designed template, to create a comparative evaluation of urban and sustainable aspects that are part of the meaningful MCMH neighbourhoods in Europe. As an outcome, it was possible to map more than 100 MCMH assemblies spread over several cities in 30 European countries to identify the urban and architectural characteristics arranged in dialogue with MCMH’s concepts. The housing policies are referred to in an involving way, as well as the raising of intervention or rehabilitation strategies realised. From the analysis, data can be inserted into mapping systems, such as GIS (Geographical Information System), paving the way for developing an Atlas digital platform. In this framework, a fascinating research project that is currently progressing with the analysis and exploration of new analytical tools, such as the integration of all case studies in GIS to achieve an original analysis based on different issues, such as the distribution of uses (building typologies, open areas, green areas, parking etc.), and various statistics for all case studies. This paper aims to explore the analysis of the case studies through the statistical correlation of quality parameters with spatial geometric parameters, allowing us to understand the relationship between buildings, performance, and quality of space. Beyond the specificities of each neighbourhood, it will be possible to start outlining comparative studies between MCMH settlements in Eastern and Western Europe, North and South, with the expectation of being able to contribute to a better revitalisation and renewal of these settlements.
